What is Elco AI?
Elco is an AI English practice companion from IELSco. You talk with Elco out loud in live calls (Elco Call) or in writing (Elco Chat), follow guided lessons from A1 to C1, and practise with quick quizzes and drills, with Look Up and Elco Help whenever you get stuck.
Who is Elco for?
Learners who understand some English and want to use it with more confidence: preparing for job or scholarship interviews, speaking at work or school, or just practising everyday conversation. Elco adapts to your level and the goals you set.
How does Elco personalise my learning?
Elco starts from a short placement check and what you tell it: your goals, the skills you want to work on, your interests, how you like to learn and how many minutes you have each day. From that it builds a daily plan across speaking, listening, reading and writing, and picks activities at your level. As you practise, it also uses what you've completed, your retries and the mistakes it notices more than once. If it doesn't know something yet, it uses a simple default and says so.
What is the placement check?
A short check (about 10–15 minutes) with a few multiple-choice and reading questions, one short piece of writing and one spoken-style answer. It gives a starting level for your practice plan. It's a learning baseline, not an official CEFR, IELTS or TOEFL result, and you can retake it later in Settings.
What is the IELSco community?
IELSco is the English-learning community behind Elco. Elco is your AI practice companion; the IELSco community is where you meet other learners and find events, programmes and opportunities. You can reach it from Community in the Elco menu.
Is Elco free?
Yes. The Free plan includes every feature Elco has today, with daily usage limits. No card is needed to start.
How do Elco Chat and Elco Call differ?
In Elco Chat you type. In Elco Call you talk out loud in a live conversation: no button to hold, you can interrupt Elco, and you can mute your microphone any time. Both start from a short setup where you choose a topic.
Does Elco support voice practice?
Yes. Elco Call is a live conversation: talk naturally and Elco answers out loud. Mute stops your microphone from sending audio without ending the call, and push-to-talk is available if you prefer clear turns. Audio is not stored; the text of the call is saved for your review.
How do free usage limits work?
Each day the Free plan includes 10 Elco Chat replies, 10 feedback checks and 30 AI requests in total, plus a separate allowance for voice turns. Limits reset every day. When one runs out, Elco tells you which one and when it resets.
What do Starter and Pro provide?
Starter and Pro keep every Free feature and add larger monthly allowances. Starter (Rp69.000 a month): 0 Elco Chat replies, 0 Elco Call minutes and 0 feedback checks a month; Pro (Rp99.000 a month): 150 Elco Chat replies, 60 Elco Call minutes and 400 feedback checks a month. These are the planned launch allowances. There is no plan-only content, and neither plan guarantees reaching a level.
Can I buy Starter or Pro?
Yes. See Pricing.
What are Learning Journeys?
Focused programs for one goal, such as a job interview, travel, an internship application, or IELTS and TOEFL foundations. Each has a pre-test, 12 lessons, a final assessment and a certificate anyone can verify online. You buy a journey once; it isn't part of Starter or Pro.
What is Elco Help?
A helper inside every lesson. Ask Elco about the lesson you're in and it answers with the lesson's own explanations and the question on your screen in mind, in English or Bahasa Indonesia, Bahasa Melayu, Thai, Tagalog or Burmese. During practice it gives hints rather than answers, and it's paused during scored checks. Each answer uses one Elco Chat reply from your plan.
How does contextual translation work?
Tap any word or select a short phrase in Elco's messages (in lessons, turn on Look Up first). A card explains it in simple English as it's used in that sentence, with pronunciation and an example. Tap “Translate” to see it in the language you chose in Settings, and save it to your vocabulary.
Can I review my feedback?
Yes. In conversations, feedback on each message is one tap away. Roleplays and voice sessions end with a review that quotes what you said, then you can practise one improvement and try a new scenario. Your sessions stay in your history.
Can I use Elco in my language?
Elco's interface is in English. You can choose a language for translations and explanations, including Bahasa Indonesia, Bahasa Melayu, Filipino, Thai, Burmese, Vietnamese, Khmer and Lao.
How can a school or organisation contact Elco?
